Plan2Adapt

About This Tool

Climate change does not impact every region of British Columbia equally. The Plan2Adapt tool generates maps, plots, and data describing projected future climate conditions for regions throughout British Columbia. Plan2Adapt:

  • Assists users in assessing climate change in their region based on a standard set of climate model projections.
  • Is similar to the PCIC Climate Explorer (PCEX) and uses the same data to generate its output.

Intended Users

With a simpler user interface and fewer configurable options, Plan2Adapt is designed to serve the needs of those involved in local and regional community planning.

Plan2Adapt 2024 Updates:

  • Plan2Adapt uses the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway 5-8.5 (SSP 5-8.5) future climate scenario from the sixth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The results shown are computed from daily statistically downscaled scenarios developed using the N-dimensional Bias Correction (MBCn) method.
  • Plan2Adapt's baseline period has been updated to 1981-2010, and baseline values for all variables are now provided.
  • First Nations Language families have been added to the regional menu.
