The Design Value Explorer (DVE) is a new national tool that provides historical and future-projected climatic design data relevant to the National Building Code of Canada and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code. The DVE was developed in collaboration with PCIC, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Infrastructure Canada, and the National Research Council of Canada. It supports design professionals who are seeking appropriate data to mitigate climate change risks.

This interactive session, delivered by PCIC, provides information about the fundamentals of climate science and key considerations for using the tool. It also presents an in-depth demonstration of the DVE using specific examples from the Greater Victoria and Nanaimo regions. During this session, attendees have an opportunity to practice using the tool, ask questions, and provide feedback. Feel free to explore the Design Value Explorer ahead of time and arrive with your questions!
