Design Value Explorer Workshop Recording Released

On Feb 27th, PCIC held a workshop with local government staff from the Capital Regional District and the Regional District of Nanaimo, focused on PCIC's Design Value Explorer (DVE) online tool. The DVE provides historical and future-projected climatic design data relevant to the National Building Code of Canada and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code at a national scale. A recording of this presentation is now available.

The DVE supports design professionals who are seeking both historically accurate, local scale data and future-projected estimates of design-relevant variables to manage climate change risk. The interactive session covered key considerations for using the tool and provided an overview of climate science basics. An in-depth demonstration of the DVE was also conducted using specific examples from the Greater Victoria and Nanaimo regions. During this session, attendees had an opportunity to practice using the tool, ask questions, and provide feedback.

The DVE was developed by PCIC in collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Infrastructure Canada, and the National Research Council of Canada.
