June 2017 PCIC Update
The most recent edition of the PCIC Update is now online. This most recent edition covers some of the major happenings at PCIC for the period since January. The first story is an update from the Hydrologic Impacts theme covering the VIC-GL model, the hydrologic model we use at PCIC, which has recently been upgraded to be able to explicitly model glacier processes. The second story, from PCIC's Climate Analysis and Monitoring and Regional Climate Impacts themes, discusses the winter of 2016-2017 in British Columbia. The third story covers the release of a recent paper in Nature Geoscience on short-duration extreme rainfall events, on which PCIC Director Francis Zwiers is a co-author. This month's staff profile is on Research Fellow Mohamed Ali Ben Alaya, who discusses his work examining extreme precipitation events.
In addition, the Update also discusses PCIC in the news, Francis Zwiers's recent invited public lecture at the Canadian Meteorological Society's Annual Congress, recent talks at PCIC, a new Science Brief, staff changes and recent publications authored by PCIC Staff.
