Charlotte Ballantyne

Climate Data Analyst

Charlotte is a climate data analyst in the Climate Analysis and Monitoring theme at PCIC. She is working on improving current and future PRISM maps and assimilating climate records into the Provincial Climate Data Set (PCDS).

Her research interests include the impacts of climate change on forests and modeling climate in areas of complex terrain. While completing her undergraduate degree she spent a co-op term working for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development as a Weather Station Technician where she retrieved data from weather stations across BC and performed climate data analysis in support of adaptive forest management. For her undergraduate honours thesis she continued this work by using downscaled climate data and tree growth models to predict the impact of climate change on lodgepole pine populations in BC.
